Rotterdam, December 2011---The first run of the new RSM Open Programme ‘The Strategy Consultants’ Approach to Problem Solving’ took place in early December. It was extremely well-received by the participants, a diverse group of managers and consultants from companies including KPN, ABN AMRO, Philips and DSM, as well as independent consultants.
Facilitated by two experienced consultants - Dr Marc Baaij, Assistant Professor of Strategic Management at RSM, and James Parker, RSM Executive Fellow - participants learned how to analyse their own business challenges using a selection of tools and techniques used by the major consulting firms. The use of these tools was further illustrated using case studies from the faculty’s own working experience which demonstrated vividly how they could also be applied to communicating and implementing effective solutions to real problems.
A sample of participant remarks after the programme:
‘A fundamental background that provides problem-solving and analytical skills to resolve complex issues’
‘The course is very relevant and helpful for internal consultants’‘Highlights various frameworks…essential to structure thoughts for problem solving’
‘Valuable course, provides wonderful insights…’
‘Practical, useful for strategy development.'
