The RSM MBA Regatta 2012, which takes place 24-26 August, will for the third time bring together participants in all of the MBA programmes of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) for a weekend of networking, celebration and sailing.

“Sailing events offer an ideal opportunity to share experiences and make new contacts, while enjoying competitive challenges, learning new skills, and actively participating in team events,” says Jean Witteveen Marketing & Admissions Manager Executive MBA.

This year, the 3rd Annual MBA Regatta will take place in Lemmer and is hosted by the RSM Sailing Club. Over a hundred people are expected to attend, with around fifteen yachts competing in the races. Whilst focusing on camaraderie and skills demonstrated at sea, the regatta will be an excellent opportunity to encourage the qualities of successful MBA candidates. “At RSM,”, says Bill Collins, a Senior lecturer at RSM who will deliver a keynote address from the shore: “We look at the influence of individuals on each other, how leaders get things done, and the responsibilities of both leaders and those they lead within the greater context of different cultures.” Sailing is a great metaphor for business, he says. “It involves long-term strategic vision, leadership, teamwork, communication, and the adaptability to deal with changing environmental factors.”

The programme includes on-shore activities, networking opportunities and of course, plenty of racing! “All you need is enthusiasm, the will to compete, and the goal of winning as a team,” says this year’s Sailing Club President, Full-time MBA13 student Valentin Kopytin.
