RSM researchers presented with Case Awards from ecch
RSM researchers have been presented with what the Financial Times have called ‘the business equivalent of the Oscars’ as a result of their category awards in the ecch Case Awards 2012.
The award, announced earlier this year, went to a group of four researchers from RSM, for their work developing the case study of Li Ning Co. Ltd., a Chinese company. The awards – handsome polished trophies – were presented to two of the researchers last week by Antoinette Mills, ecch’s Media and Systems Development Manager.
“This is the first award for RSM in the 22-year history of the ecch Case Awards. It comes during the second year that the awards have been global rather than European, and as competition becomes even more fierce,” said Antoinette Mills.
“RSM produced a good quality case on an interesting topic,” said Ms Mills, who also revealed that the RSM researchers’ case on Li Ning has already been used by 21 institutions.
RSM’s award-winning researchers are Dr Lori DiVito, Lecturer at University of Applied Sciences, Hogeschool van Amsterdam and Research Associate, Teaching Fellow at University of Manchester; Dr Barbara Krug, RSM Professor of Economics of Governance; Dr Johannes Meuer, Research Associate of RSM’s Research Centre on China Business; and drs Tao Yue, researcher and Case Writer at the RSM Case Development Centre.
Dr Krug and Dr Meuer were unable to attend the trophy presentation.
The subject of their research, Li Ning, is a Chinese company supplying sport apparel, footwear and equipment, founded in 1989 by an Olympic gymnastics gold medallist. Li Ning grew from a family business to China's number one sporting goods brand in less than two decades and the award-winning case looks at the company's internationalisation strategy. Their case, entitled A Grand Entrance? Li Ning's Emergence as a Global, Chinese Brand, was won the Category Award for Strategy and General Management in the 2012 ecch case awards in February.
