Alumni from MBA programmes at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) came back to campus from all over the world to reunite, explore their leadership strengths, attend workshops and network. The dynamic two-day reunion took place in several locations in Rotterdam in October 2014.

The 170 alumni celebrated the 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th or 25th anniversary of their graduating classes from one of RSM’s MBA programmes. They had travelled from all over the world, including Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Peru, Mexico, Russia, and the USA. During the two-day RSM MBA Alumni Reunion 2014, entitled ‘Past, present, future’, the alumni had the opportunity to attend several workshops, the annual RSM Leadership Summit, and social events to catch up and network.

“It was an outstanding reunion,” says Nils Scheller (Full-time MBA 2004). “It was amazing to catch up with more than 50 of my classmates. The Alumni Relations Team has been a warm and welcoming host.”

Exploring business and leadership tools

Two workshops took place on campus on Friday 3 October. Alumni learned how to identify and promote their leadership strengths during an interactive career workshop led by RSM’s senior career coach Dorothy Grandia. Women had the opportunity to participate in a negotiation workshop, led by Professor Dianne Bevelander and Assistant Professor Shira Mor, about using negotiation tools and techniques to leverage their knowledge and strengths.

At the RSM Leadership Summit 2014, which focused on the benefits and challenges of using big data in business, the alumni could join top business practitioners, RSM’s top academics, and executives from across industries at the Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek in Rotterdam for an afternoon of high-level networking and the sharing of knowledge.

During a storytelling workshop on campus on Saturday 4 October, the alumni explored storytelling technics and how to apply them to their own story in a session led by Laura van de Brugge, alumna from the Part-time MBA Class of 1999. The two-day reunion concluded with class dinners at the nostalgic Hotel New York in Rotterdam.
