Professionals working in customs, government agencies, international trade and compliance or AEO advisors can boost their business skills in a new diploma programme at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). The first run of the Diploma Programme in Customs and Supply Chain Compliance, will start on Wednesday 23 March 2016 and covers EU customs law, auditing, information technology, logistics and supply chain to improve co-operation in international trade.

The nine-day, English-taught diploma programme, offered by RSM Executive Education, enables professionals to better understand the broad world of customs and trade compliance. They will gain new knowledge and skills during the programme’s four two-day workshops and a one-day project kick-off.

Connecting customs, auditing, logistics and IT

“Participants will benefit from the newest insights conveyed to them via an attractive programme,” said Professor Rob Zuidwijk, endowed professor of ports in global networks in RSM’s Department of Technology and Operations Management. “The diploma programme doesn’t only cover the essentials of customs, auditing, logistics, and IT, but which will also help people understand the relations between these topics,” said Prof. Zuidwijk.

The multi-disciplinary Diploma Programme in Customs and Supply Chain Compliance’s curriculum covers four core areas: customs, supply chain management, information management and compliance. Participants will learn how these core areas are interrelated, and how to co-operate and share information within the total supply chain.

Sharing international trade experiences

The diploma programme’s lectures and workshops are delivered by the faculty members of RSM’s Executive Master in Customs and Supply Chain Compliance programme. “I look forward to the appreciation and feedback of the students regarding this new diploma programme,” said Prof. Zuidwijk, who teaches in both programmes and said he will draw on the experiences that the master participants have brought to RSM.

The Diploma Programme in Customs and Supply Chain Compliance aims at customs professionals from any EU member state or beyond, professionals working at a government agency, professionals and consultants in international trade and compliance, AEO advisors, and specialists such as IT auditors, trade lawyers, logistics experts, compliance officers and tax specialists.

Participants can network with fellow professionals in customs and international trade to share perspectives. They will also receive expert-coaching from RSM’s faculty members to help implement innovative solutions from their projects into their organisation.
