Executives can prepare for CMA exam in new RSM course

Business executives who want to acquire an international professional qualification in accounting can prepare themselves for the certified management accountant (CMA) exam with a new programme at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). The two-module CMA Exam Preparation Course kicks off in Rotterdam in October, and is unique in the Benelux.

RSM’s new CMA Exam Preparation Course is specifically designed for business professionals looking to develop their careers in accounting and control by formal certification. The programme, which is unique in the Benelux, prepares executives for becoming qualified in accounting and financial management through the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exams, using RSM’s proven teaching methods and world-class faculty with CMA-approved learning materials.

Common pitfalls

“People can add value to their career in financial management by aiming for this formal certification,” says lecturer Dr Marcel van Rinsum about the CMA qualification. “With this programme at RSM, they can avoid common pitfalls, get live feedback, and optimise learning through interaction in class tests.”

During the two three-day sessions, which can be followed separately, professionals will receive valuable classroom support which can be used to boost and direct their home studies for the two-part CMA exam. In addition to receiving the Wiley CMAexcel course materials, RSM’s experienced faculty members will discuss challenging topics and areas.

Support and practice tools

Professionals will also receive guidance via an optimal self-study scheme and support in preparation for the exams, and will have access to an online practice tool bank to enhance self-learning and exam training.

The CMA Exam Preparation Course is led by Dr Marcel van Rinsum, Dr Miriam Koning and Dr Stephan Kramer, and designed by RSM Executive Education. Its first module is 5-7 October 2016, and the second module takes place in May 2017. In addition passing the CMA exam, other requirements for the CMA include membership of the Association of Accountants and Financial Professionals in Business (IMA), plus a bachelor degree from an accredited college or university, and two continuous years of professional experience in management accounting or financial management.
