Mrs Jacqueline Tammenoms Bakker holds a BA degree in History and French from Oxford University and an MA degree in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies in Washington D.C. She joined Shell International in 1977 and held a variety of positions in the Netherlands, the U.K. and Turkey. In 1989, she joined McKinsey & Co where she worked as a consultant for six years. From 1995 to 1998, she was Vice-President Foods (Europe) for Quest International (a Unilever subsidiary).
In 1999, Jacqueline Tammenoms Bakker moved to the public sector. From 1999 to 2001, she was director of Gigaport, an initiative to accelerate the introduction of broadband Internet in the Netherlands, and then from 2001 to 2007, she was a Director General at the Ministry of Transport in the Netherlands, responsible for Civil Aviation and Freight Transport. From 2006 to 2007, she was chairman of the High Level Group for the future of aviation regulation in Europe, reporting to the EU Commissioner for Transport.
Currently Jacqueline Tammenoms Bakker combines a number of activities. In January 2009 Jacqueline Tammenoms Bakker was appointed a non-executive director of Tesco PLC and in April 2010 a non-executive director of Vivendi. She is a member of the supervisory board of the Dutch Land Registry and Topographical organisation (“Kadaster”) and a member of the Rotterdam School of Management Advisory Board. Additionally she has an advisory role to several Ministries in The Hague.
