Chairman of the Advisory Board and Director, McKinsey & Company

Marc van Rooijen joined McKinsey & Company as the first McKinsey Fellow – a talent-development programme pioneered by the consultancy - in Amsterdam in 1984. After completing his MBA programme at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, He returned to McKinsey in Amsterdam as an Associate, then spent 1989 – 1990 in the McKinsey New York office as an Engagement Manager. Since returning to Amsterdam in 1990, Marc has worked with McKinsey & Company to consult with a broad range of industries: media, telecommunications, chemicals, dairy, financial services and healthcare. His work focuses on large-scale, multi-year transformation programmes, frequently in a multinational context. 

These transformational programmes have included post-merger management programmes, turnaround programmes and performance transformation programmes, in addition to preparing and supporting companies going through liberalisation/privatisation of their industries. Over the past few years, Marc van Rooijen has focused on new ways to create and sustain high-performing healthcare systems.

Marc is married, with a teenage son and daughter. His hobbies include  tennis, golf, skiing, ice skating, wind surfing and enjoying wine and good food.
