Marcel van Poecke is a former member of the executive board of Petroplus.
Born in 1960, Mr van Poecke holds a degree in Agricultural Business Administration from the University of Wageningen, the Netherlands.
In 1990 he received a masters in Business Administration from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, in Rotterdam, and the William E. Simon School of Management from the University of Rochester in New York.
In 1985 he began his professional career with the Calpam International Petroleum Company B.V. Within Calpam he held several management positions including that of commercial director, a position he held from 1990 until 1992.
He then served as managing director of the Vanol Group, a Dutch company engaged in the storage, trading and marketing of crude oil and refined products.
In May 1993 he jointly organised a management buy-out of Vanol, and together with his business partner established Petroplus. Petroplus is now the leading Pan-European midstream oil company with core activities in oil (refining and marketing) and logistics (storage) of crude oil and products and LNG. Mr van Poecke is currently co-CEO of the company.
