The first of two free interactive webinars for professionals working in supply chain, customs and compliance will take place on Tuesday, 27 September from 20:00 (GMT +02:00) from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). It will examine customs from the viewpoint of business, academia and customs administration, the impact of compliance on supply chains and the role of risk and trust in compliance.

The first webinar of its kind, Compliance in Supply Chain Management on 27 September will explore the requirements that compliance puts on supply chains. Participants can contribute and raise questions with Wim Visscher, IT auditor for the Dutch customs authority (Douane Nederland), Prof. Albert Veenstra, Scientific Director at DINALOG, the Dutch Institute for Advanced Logistics, and contracted faculty at RSM, and Jan Plender, Senior Manager in International Trade at CISCO

Increasing compliance

International trade is growing and is becoming more complex. Various developments drive customs and trade to co-operate, share information and align processes. But international supply chains usually are designed only with costs, flexibility and responsiveness in mind. How can they be improved so they become more internationally compliant?

The discussion will include why Cisco is adapting supply chains across a variety of countries, and the enforcement vision of the Dutch customs authority. Participation is free.

Import Controls

The second webinar takes place on 31 October, on the subject of import controls and their impact on international trade with Yao-Hua Tan, who is Professor of Information and Communication Technology at Delft University of Technology and the programme director of RSM’s part-time Executive Master in Customs and Supply Chain Compliance.
