Allard Castelein

CEO Port of Rotterdam Authority

The Port Authority is the manager, operator and developer of Rotterdam’s port and industrial area. The Port Authority invests in the development of the existing port area, new port sites (Maasvlakte 2), public infrastructure and in the handling of shipping traffic. The goal is to strengthen the port of Rotterdam’s competitive position as a logistics hub and industrial complex of world standing. Allard Castelein is Chief Executive of the Port of Rotterdam Authority since January 1, 2014. Before, he was Vice President Environment at  Royal Dutch Shell.

Günther H. Oettinger

European Commissioner for Energy, European Commission

Mr. Oettinger is member of the European Commission responsible for energy since February 2010. Under his political guidance and through the development and implementation of innovative policies, the Directorate-General for Energy aims at providing European citizens and businesses with competitive and technologically advanced energy services ; making energy production, energy transport and consumption more sustainable; and creating conditions which allow continuous and secure energy supply for the EU, including through international relations. From 2005 till 2010 Mr. Oettinger was Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Before that, he had several political functions in Germany. 

Prof. Wolfgang Ketter

Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University

Wolfgang Ketter is a Professor of Next Generation Information Systems at the Department of Technology and Operations Management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. He is the founder and director of the Learning Agents Research Group and the Erasmus Centre for Future Energy Business. Professor Ketter leads Power TAC, a new TAC competition on energy retail markets. Since 2011 he has served as the chair of the IEEE Task Force on Energy Markets.

Mr. Hans ten Berge

Secretary General, Union of the Electricity Industry

EURELECTRIC is the sector association which represents the common interests of the electricity industry at pan-European level, plus its affiliates and associates on several other continents.

Coby van der Linde is director of the Clingendael International Energy Programme (CIEP) since 2001. Furthermore, she is (part-time) Professor of Geopolitics and Energy Management at the University of Groningen. 

Volker Beckers

Chairman, former Group CEO and expert in the integrated energy business

Former Group CEO of UK-based electricity and gas supplier RWE Npower, and a non-executive director with the UK government’s HM Revenue & Customs. He holds positions at various financial companies and at ELEXON Ltd. Recently appointed Chairman of Albion Community Power PLC, a renewable power generation and investment firm.

Prof. Peter Birkner

Member Executive Board, Mainova

Peter Birkner is Chief Technical Officer and Member of the Board of Mainova AG, Frankfurt since 2011. He holds positions as Chairman DSO Committee, Eurelectric, Brussels; member of the Board of CHP Association AGFW and Energy Society ETG and he is Associated Professor (Electrical Power Engineering) at Bergische Universität Wuppertal. Mainova supplies customers with gas, water, heat and electricity and is amongst Germany‘s top 10 regional supply companies. Mainova AG has about 2.800 employees, has a turnover of nearly 2 billion € and is mainly owned by the City of Frankfurt.

Peter Smink

CEO, Nuon The Netherlands

Nuon, part of Vattenfall, is an energy company that generates electricity and produces gas, heating and cooling, and supplies these to approximately 2.2 million households, companies and organisations in The Netherlands. Nuon also offers its customers energy-saving products and services.  

Robbert-Jan Stegeman

CIO, Alliander

Network company Alliander, which is active in the energy sector and employs approximately 7,000 staff, comprises the Liander, Endinet and Liandon companies. Network operators Liander and Endinet distribute electricity to 3.1 million customers and gas to 2.6 million customers in an area covering over a third of the Netherlands. Liander and Endinet are responsible for maintenance, expansion and innovation of their networks in the provinces of Gelderland, Noord-Holland and parts of Zuid-Holland, Friesland, Flevoland and Noord-Brabant. Liandon provides services relating to the construction and maintenance of complex energy infrastructures. Robbert-Jan Stegeman is CIO of Alliander.

Full professor of economics, in particular energy economics, and Head of the Chair of Energy Economics - Department of Economics - at the University of Cologne.

Peter Atherton

Equity Research, Utilities for Liberum Capital UK

Heads the utilities research team for independent consultants Liberum. An experienced equity analyst who held positions at Kleinwort Benson, the UK’s National Grid, and Citigroup where he was Head of Pan European Utilities Sector research.

Guido Dubbeld

CFO, Eneco Holding N.V. 

Eneco is an international sustainable energy company, with operations in the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, France and Belgium. The Eneco Group headquarters are located in Rotterdam. Guido Dubbeld is Chief Financial Officer of Eneco Holding N.V. Before Guido joined Eneco, he worked for several financial institutions, including MeesPierson, HypoVereinsbank (Munich) and UBS AG (Zurich). 

Dr. Martin Kröner

Martin Kröner is Managing Partner at Munich Venture Partners, the cleantech venture capital specialist based in Munich.

Martin was co-founder and CEO of agnion Energy Inc., a manufacturer of distributed power generation systems. Before his involvement with agnion, Martin worked for Linde AG. Prior to working for Linde, Martin built up Thermotec Engineering Services, a spin-off from the Technische Universität München. Martin is mechanical engineer with a PhD in Thermodynamics and Combustion Research from the Technische Universität München.

Dr. Ronald Huisman

Ronald Huisman is Associate Professor of Financial Economics and Energy, Erasmus School of Economics. He is also a director of FinEdge International Group, that offers innovative solutions with respect to financial strategies and trading and investment management in international financial markets.

Manon Janssen

CEO and Managing Director, Ecofys

Manon Janssen graduated from the University of Brussels in 1984, holding a Master of Science. She joined Procter & Gamble and worked in different countries between 1984 and 2000 on key global brands such as Pampers, Always, Dreft and Pantene. In 2000 she became VP Marketing & Innovation at Electrolux Europe, then Chief Marketing Officer for Philips Lighting worldwide in 2005. Since May 2010 Manon Janssen is the CEO of Ecofys. Her mission is to develop the company across its deep and wide range of expertise, and fulfil its mission of "sustainable energy for everyone". Her key areas of expertise include strategy, innovation, branding and client management. Since October 2013, Manon leads the Top sector Energy. In this function she is responsible for the innovation strategy in the Dutch energy market working to reach the long-term energy goals of the country.
