The Port Authority is the manager, operator and developer of Rotterdam’s port and industrial area. The Port Authority invests in the development of the existing port area, new port sites (Maasvlakte 2), public infrastructure and in the handling of shipping traffic. The goal is to strengthen the port of Rotterdam’s competitive position as a logistics hub and industrial complex of world standing. Allard Castelein is Chief Executive of the Port of Rotterdam Authority since January 1, 2014. Before, he was Vice President Environment at Royal Dutch Shell.

Mr. Oettinger is member of the European Commission responsible for energy since February 2010. Under his political guidance and through the development and implementation of innovative policies, the Directorate-General for Energy aims at providing European citizens and businesses with competitive and technologically advanced energy services ; making energy production, energy transport and consumption more sustainable; and creating conditions which allow continuous and secure energy supply for the EU, including through international relations. From 2005 till 2010 Mr. Oettinger was Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Before that, he had several political functions in Germany.

Wolfgang Ketter is a Professor of Next Generation Information Systems at the Department of Technology and Operations Management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. He is the founder and director of the Learning Agents Research Group and the Erasmus Centre for Future Energy Business. Professor Ketter leads Power TAC, a new TAC competition on energy retail markets. Since 2011 he has served as the chair of the IEEE Task Force on Energy Markets.

Nuon, part of Vattenfall, is an energy company that generates electricity and produces gas, heating and cooling, and supplies these to approximately 2.2 million households, companies and organisations in The Netherlands. Nuon also offers its customers energy-saving products and services.
Network company Alliander, which is active in the energy sector and employs approximately 7,000 staff, comprises the Liander, Endinet and Liandon companies. Network operators Liander and Endinet distribute electricity to 3.1 million customers and gas to 2.6 million customers in an area covering over a third of the Netherlands. Liander and Endinet are responsible for maintenance, expansion and innovation of their networks in the provinces of Gelderland, Noord-Holland and parts of Zuid-Holland, Friesland, Flevoland and Noord-Brabant.
