ERIM PhD research projects in management for the year 2010

ERIM PhD projects

Each year ERIM initiates and starts a substantial number of new and international oriented PhD research projects. The focus is on pioneering and innovative research in the field of Research in Management. Projects are ordered by research programme, and clicking on one of the programmes below gives access to a variety of PhD research projects that are open for applicants in that area.

PhD Open Projects

Apart from a variety of pre-defined PhD projects ERIM offers a small number of prestigious Open Project PhD positions. These positions are characterized by much freedom in choosing the topic of your thesis project. It is expected that you take initiatives to develop your research topic in the first year. To do so, you will join several small intensive research projects with the top research staff of ERIM in the first nine months. A mentor will help you in establishing a match between you and potential thesis supervisors. Projects may be within or across the ERIM’s research programmes.

Benefits for these PhD candidates are the following:

  • Freedom to develop one’s own topic.
  • Freedom to choose the supervisor.
  • Possibility to develop cross-disciplinary research topics.
  • An individual Research Orientation Module in the first year allows the PhD candidate to work with four distinguished scholars in the selected fields of research. It extends the academic network and broadens scientific outlook.
  • The possibility to invite a co-supervisor from an external institution.
  • Additional travel budget is available, for example, for outward research visits.
  • Two conference visits in the first or second year without presenting a paper.
  • No compulsory teaching.
