International Business Project

What are the critical marketing success factors for becoming an important player in our market? What is the current status and potential of knowledge management within large international consultancy and IT firms?

If your organisation is confronted with similarly critical yet non-urgent questions that are all too often side-lined due to lack of time, you may find the answer in student research.

What is an International Business Project?

The International Business Project (IBP) is a consultancy project carried out by a team of international master’s students, most of whom are taking part in an exchange at RSM. Ambitous, diverse individuals from top schools around the world, these students are required to conduct quality, professional research for companies in any field in business administration, while under the supervision of a company and university coach.

To participate, your company must provide a realistic in-company issue or problem description for our student team. This description will be turned into a problem definition by the students which, once agreed upon, will be developed into a research plan that describes the issue to be tackled, how the data will be collected, what the methods of analysis will be, and the value the project will have for the company. Once the students have completed the assignment, they will write a report and present their information to a jury including executives from your company.

The profile of the student team

Selected MScBA students participate in RSM’s Exchange Programme twice yearly. The average age of participating students is 22; he or she has excellent analytical skills and research experience; and often relevant work experience. All students are in the final phase of their business studies at our partner universities.

A team consists of two or three international students and two Dutch students from RSM. If you require specific nationalities, language skills, theoretical backgrounds or relevant experience, we will do our best to comply. On the basis of the project requirements, the student background, and your preferred student profile, the university assigns the students to a project.

What is the didactical goal of the International Business Project?

RSM offers students many opportunities to gain hands-on business research experience. The general aim of the IBP is to place students in a situation that requires them to respond professionally to a real-world management problem and learn how to work together in a culturally-heterogeneous group to produce results.
