Research interests
Dr Bas Koene’s research and teaching interests lie in the area of human agency in processes of institutional change and organization development, with a specific interest in the organization of work and the management of employment.
His present research focuses on institutional change and the role of effective purposive action in inducing such change. He is particulary interested in Strategic HRM, the organization of employment and flexibility.
In his present research he investigates
- the embedding of temporary work and the role of professional employment service organizations in European labour markets
- the evolving conceptions of organization design and organizational relationships
- how changes in the approach of people management in organizations affect the role of the HR department
- Impact of organization characteristics and HR design on employee attitudes and (organizational) performance
