Research Interests

My research interests are centered around learning processes in portfolios of strategic alliances and mergers and acquisitions. In particular, my current research includes:

  • Knowledge sharing within and between firms
  • Deliberate and experiential learning processes
  • Microfoundations of organizational learning
  • Capability development processes in alliances and M&A


Biography

Koen Heimeriks is Assistant Professor of Strategy at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. He has been a visiting researcher at Carnegie Mellon University. Previously, he worked at the Center for Strategic Management & Globalization at the Copenhagen Business School. He received his PhD from Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands. His current research centers around intra-firm experiential and deliberate learning and capability development processes in strategic alliance and mergers and acquisition portfolios. His work has appeared in Journal of Management Studies and Strategic Organization. Also, he has published a book at Palgrave Macmillan. He serves on the Editorial Board of Organization Science and Journal of Management.
