Biography
Ernst Verwaal is Associate Professor of Strategic Management at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University and Member of the Board of the Department of Strategic Management and Business Environment. His research interests focus on the development of dynamic, innovative and entrepreneurial organizational capabilities and their alignment with the changing demands of the (international) business environment. His research as author is published in international refereed academic journals such as the International Journal of Technology Management, Journal of Management, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Common Market Studies and Small Business Economics, and he co-authored articles in many other journals including the Journal of Strategic Change, International Journal of Business Environment, European Management Journal and the European Journal of Marketing. He served as a reviewer of the Strategic Management Journal, the Journal of International Business Studies and the Journal of Management Studies, and is a member of the Academy of Management, Strategic Management Society and Academy of International Business. He is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Business Environment (InderScience Publishers). A peer-reviewed international journal which focuses on how changes in specific industry environments - such as technology, regulation and industry standards - affect organizations and vice-versa.
Ernst Verwaal (co)supervises PhD candidates at Erasmus University and teaches at both undergraduate, graduate, post-experience degree and executive level education. He is academic coordinator of a highly successful post-experience MScBA program in Strategic Management & Corporate Entrepreneurship. As a researcher and consultant he worked with large industrial companies such as Siemens, Philips, Unilever, KPN, Royal Dutch Shell, large service companies such as Metro, ABN-AMRO, ING and Royal Vopak and small and medium sized companies across different industries.
