Skills & Languages

Languages

On completion of the International Management programme, you should be fluent in at least two foreign languages in addition to your mother tongue. For non-native speakers, one of these must be English. You are expected to improve language skills of your own accord, and your standards in both foreign languages should improve during your studies at RSM. Erasmus University’s Language and Training Centre organises special language courses and language level tests.

Skill Seminars

During the first and second semesters of the IM programme, skills seminars help you to develop the critical skills of highly successful executives. These seminars are typically organised in close collaboration with CEMS corporate partners, for example, Randstad runs a ‘Competences Management’ seminar at its headquarters in Amsterdam.

‘Management Skills and Personal Development’ is specifically formulated to hone your personal managerial competencies. This two-day seminar is based on the MBTI scale indicating personal preferences, for example introvert versus extravert. Through teamwork, self-assessment and discussions of character traits, your personal profile is established and discussed. The seminar offers a constructive arena for understanding how your behaviour, and that of others, can be better managed.

Three other skill seminars offered by RSM are networking skills, cross-cultural management skills and teambuilding. The teambuilding seminar starts the second semester.
