Research & Master Thesis

During your core courses and master electives you are sure to encounter a marketing challenge or theory that fascinates you and provides an excellent starting point for your master thesis. 
By the end of your second core course, you will submit an initial, brief proposal. Based on this proposal, you will be assigned a coach. Your master thesis is your opportunity to show your potential capabilities as a next-generation manager. 

You will be guided and mentored by one of our marketing professors during the whole master thesis process, and you are invited to combine your master thesis with a company project or internship. 

 Main objectives of the master thesis: 

  • Conduct academic research and develop analytical skills; 
  • Learn how to formulate and communicate your ideas and research; 
  • Develop skills in time-management and self-management. 

 

Examples of master thesis topics in marketing management: 

  • Creating compelling online ads (with Unilever – Axe);  
  • Using brand personality to guide brand extensions (with Sara Lee); 
  • Perceived brand value in the German mobile phone market; 
  • Evaluations of brand placements in music videos; 
  • Understanding and managing word-of-mouth; 
  • The international image of the Netherlands (for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs); 
  • Decision support systems for sales promotions (with Lu and Danone);
