Why did you choose this MSc?
“After a general university education in applied economics, I felt the need for a more specialised educational background in the field of marketing. As a very reputable university, RSM was at the top of my list. This marketing management programme was the ideal choice for developing my knowledge, skills and insights to launch me confidently into my future marketing career.”

How would you describe the programme and RSM?
“RSM’s marketing programme provides a holistic understanding of marketing analytics and fundamentals, but also offers the opportunity to go more in-depth into marketing topics of your own choice. A lot of interaction during the courses with professors and fellow students caused a deeper understanding of the discussed marketing principles. Challenging yet useful business cases and projects clearly illustrated the relevance of the lecture contents into a business context and perspective. Guest speakers from reputable companies and the opportunity to get in contact with many of them, was the cherry on the cake. The programme really offers the whole package: from marketing fundamentals to specific insights and eventually the business contacts you need to get started as a young marketeer.”

What was the biggest challenge in this master?
“For me personally, the interactive and collaborative approach during the programme was the biggest challenge. During every course, there was at least one team assignment. Working together with students from different backgrounds using different approaches can be very challenging at the beginning. But if I look back at the programme, this is also the element that enriched me the most. The collaborative approach definitely is an element which is of immense value for any future job.”

What made the greatest impression?
“There was a clear ‘work hard, play hard’ mentality over the entire course of the programme. Every single student tried to get the most out of it and worked very, very hard. There were also many moments during which we got to know each other outside of the lectures and group assignments. This led to even greater collaborations and discussions, bringing the programme to a higher level. The human and fun aspect is as necessary as the academic part. It was a true eye-opener to grow closer as a group and discovering the added value of it in the courses.”

How did your studies at RSM shape your career?
“The programme very much allows you to find out which field of marketing it is you want to develop yourself in during the first years of your career. That, in addition to having a very solid marketing background, makes you a very appealing candidate for every company. At the Lego Group, I see many aspects of the programme coming alive, and I am able to provide my colleagues with insights on innovative marketing concepts and developments which we got acquainted with during the courses.”

What are your future plans?
“In the coming years I want to go deeper into brand management. Being able to create campaigns from the beginning, and seeing them come to life for children is very satisfactory. But next to that, also the analytic part deeply attracts me. Being able to and finding ways to measure the effect of your marketing investments and efforts is a crucial part. Clearly, there are some great adventures ahead.”
