I started my MSc in Supply Chain Management at RSM in 2011. Why Supply Chain Management and why RSM? Well, I completed my BSc in Business Administration in my native Germany (FU Berlin) and realised that the area of SCM interested me most and that I could see myself working in that field.
For anyone passionate about supply chain management, RSM is an obvious option. Not only does Rotterdam feature Europe’s biggest port, but the entire country of the Netherlands – consisting as it does of a cluster of warehouses and transhipment centres – is pivotal to European and in fact worldwide supply chains. This tangible proximity to business combined with RSM’s reputation and teaching methods inspired me to study here. Now I have been studying for a half year and I have not only seen the insides of many warehouses, but I have even designed one myself!
The assignments are very challenging, and are therefore often taken on in this programme in groups – a trademark of RSM’s teaching methods, in addition to the emphasis on case studies. For me, I have really appreciated this thus far, but if you are looking for a very laid-back endeavour I would not really recommend my Masters ;-) Yes, this programme can be demanding and time consuming, but after all, high-quality learning requires effort.
Although the programme covers a lot of topics thoroughly it is not too technical and very well structured. Your efforts will be rewarded and I am convinced that my Masters prepares me quite well for my professional life. On top of it all, I just love the mix of fellow students at RSM :-)
