Dr Joy Kiiru

As a post-doctoral researcher, Joy Kiiru is responsible for research in the project “How Can Inclusive business Strategies contribute to Inclusive development in Sub-Saharan Africa”. Her general research interests are in development economics; with a special interest in poverty reduction and development strategies. In this project she is particularly interested in investigating the different ways that the private sector and in this case private businesses can contribute to poverty reduction in developing countries.

Her main missions on the project include literature review on inclusive business, and the formulation of country profiles for inclusive business strategies. She works with other members in the consortium to coordinate field work in selected Sub-Saharan Africa countries and collaborates with other Scientific members of the team to ensure quality research outputs on how inclusive business strategies can be more effective in their development impact.

Joy is Kenyan and is based in Nairobi. She holds a PhD in development economics from Bonn University and Masters Degree in economics from Chancellor College. She is Senior Lecturer at the University of Nairobi, School of Economics.
