Do you have interesting ideas, rich data, or both that you would like to develop into a teaching case? RSM Case Development Centre (CDC) is organizing a one-day case writing workshop to help RSM academic staff develop and write teaching cases. The workshop will give participants the confidence and equip them with the skill to write their own cases quickly and effectively.
Programme
Before the workshop
CDC will send the participants course material to read on case writing. The participants will decide which of their own cases they wish to develop in the workshop.
At the workshop
The participants will gain knowledge on
• the mechanics of case writing,
• differences between research cases and teaching cases,
• what makes a good case,
• case writing and interview techniques, and
• case release and publishing.
They will also actively
• develop the “hook”,
• write the opening paragraph,
• write the case structure,
• outline the teaching note, and
• make an action plan.
After the workshop
After the workshop participants will complete the cases and teaching notes on their own. CDC will organize two follow-up workshops for them to discuss the drafts they have written up, provide feedback to them, and help them prepare case release documents. CDC staff is available to help between meetings.
