Machiel van Dooren, co-founder Made Blue

Social entrepreneur Machiel van Dooren began in 2002 by organising short-term training, motivating and inspiring programmes for professionals in developing countries with teamwork on knowledge-intensive development projects at SMEs and NGOs. A year later, he founded a company focusing on social venturing and impact investing called EsteamWork. Another social venture followed in 2006 when Machiel co-founded OCO2 to reduce and compensate for carbon emissions, which later merged with Climate Neutral Group. In 2012 Machiel co-founded Het Kaufhaus, a second-hand clothing retail store in partnership with Humana and Kici, and in 2013 he started De Vrije Koe for fairly traded organic beef. Now, Machiel is dedicated to growing Made Blue, a social venture mirroring the water footprint of organisations by investing in clean water projects in developing countries.
