Location intelligence, a spatial journey
Academic speaker: Dr Tobias Brandt, Assistant Professor of Business Information Management
Practitioner speaker: Jan Willem van Eck, Chief Research Officer at Esri Nederland
Geographic data and technology have slowly found their way from government into several business sectors, for example retail, insurance, and real estate. Governments’ heavy use of geographic information systems (GIS) has evolved into making data openly available, providing new opportunities for firms. Jan Willem van Eck, Chief Research Officer at Esri Nederland, will discuss how firms can take advantage of location intelligence and explain how spatial analysis can add value at the core of data-driven decision-making. RSM’s Dr Tobias Brandt will then share his perspectives and lessons from his research on spatial analytics, and how it grew into a start-up company that now works with industrial heavyweights such as Bosch, Siemens, and Volkswagen.
