Launch your business with Space!
You probably already use space-based technologies every day. Need a parking spot? Check your location-based parking app! Want to know if you should bring sunglasses or an umbrella? Your weather app will tell you!
Hundreds of satellites are currently orbiting our planet, and provide us with communication, navigation and earth observation data. The data collected by both Galileo and Copernicus are freely available to the public, so they can be used by anyone to develop smart new applications.
Ideation Workshop
Innovation starts with new ideas! During this workshop, you will be helped to form, develop and shape an idea based on space technology. Individuals or small teams are challenged to explore and enhance their proposition: which problem does your solution solve? Is there a viable business model for your idea?
By the end of the workshop, you will have created new ideas which can be submitted to the Galileo Masters or Copernicus Masters directly.
Participation is free if you click here to not let your idea get lost in space!
About the Competitions
The Galileo Masters is an annual international innovation competition that recognizes the best ideas in the field of satellite navigation. It seeks services, products, and business innovations that use satellite navigation in everyday life. Galileo is the European alternative to GPS, and much more accurate than its American counterpart. With Galileo, you can locate people and objects at meter-level accuracy. Most new smartphones are currently Galileo-ready.
The Copernicus Masters is closing on 30 June and the Galileo Masters is closing on 31 of July. And the Dutch winner of the Galileo Masters will receive a package which includes: a 1.000 EURO cash prize, a ticket to the International Awards Ceremony and a Pre-incubation support package worth EUR 6.500. Students can also join the University Challenge.
Copernicus is Europe’s earth observation project and consists of the Sentinel satellites, plus sensors on Earth, which together continuously monitor our oceans, land and atmosphere. Copernicus data is used for climate research, to track deforestation, for smart agriculture, urban planning, and more.
