Bachelor and master students from all over the Netherlands applied for the event, but only 24 were selected, based on their motivation and strong interest in strategy consulting. They learned more about the work and life as a strategy consultant in an informal way. Participating companies were A.T. Kearney, Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group, McKinsey, EY-Parthenon, Roland Berger and Strategy&.
Challenging consulting cases
The 13th edition of Consultancy Castle took place on 5, 10 and 11 April 2019. The first day was a kick-off day at the Amsterdam office of Roland Berger. The following week, students stayed overnight at Kasteel De Hooge Vuursche in Baarn, the Netherlands. Students arrived early in the morning to have an intensive but exciting day of cases, trainings, lunch, dinner and drinks. The second day, the schedule was similar with trainings, cases, and networking opportunities over dinner and drinks.
“We got to compare all major offices in a short time, and worked on challenging cases with a very ambitious group of students at a beautiful location,” said one of the participants. “What I really liked is that in addition to the formal activities, there was enough room to get to know the consultants in a more informal way. I was able to make a good assessment for applying for an internship at a strategy office that suits me.”
The Consultancy Castle
The Consultancy Castle is a unique event where top students can meet strategy consultants in an informal way and learn what it’s really like to be a strategy consultant. Students participated because they are interested in a career in strategy consulting. Consultancy Castle is the perfect opportunity to meet seven top companies in three days’ time and learn about the work at each of those companies. They can also gain experience in case solving and follow trainings.
The three-day event was organised by the Consultancy Castle Committee of RSM’s study association STAR: Marc Bouwman (chairman), Rosanne Perizonius (event manager), and Laura van Schijndel (marketing manager).
