Ale Smidts, Professor of Marketing Research at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) has been elected as member of the Neuromarketing Science & Business Association (NMSBA) Advisory Board.

NMBSA is the global trade association for everybody with a professional interest in the field of neuromarketing. It aims to share knowledge about neuromarketing all over the world using networking, publications and conferences. The trade association rests on three pillars; knowledge sharing and univocal interpretation of new data; a strong international network; and protection of general social interests related to the discipline of neuromarketing. The NMSBA advisory board has five members, representing neuromarketing science and neuromarketing business.

Professor Ale Smidts is a professor of marketing research and chair of the Department of Marketing Management, at RSM. He is director of RSM's Erasmus Centre for Neuroeconomics and the former Dean of RSM Research (2004-2011). He is also on the board of the Society for Neuroeconomics, the academic organisation for neuroeconomics, as Treasurer. His current research focus is decision neuroscience and neuromarketing, including the neural processes underlying consumer decision making and social influence. He also teaches about these topics.

His work on decision neuroscience has appeared in the Journal of Marketing Research, Psychological Science, Marketing Letters, the Journal of Economic Psychology, and in major journals in the field of neuroscience such as Social Cognitive & Affective Neuroscience, the Journal of Neuroscience, Nature Reviews Neuroscience and Neuron. His previous work on behavioural decision making and persuasive communication has appeared in major journals in the field of management such as Management Science, the Academy of Management Journal, Marketing Science, the International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Consumer Psychology and the Journal of Consumer Research.
