Around 150 professionals attended a networking reception in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, hosted by Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) in collaboration with the Dutch Consulate in Vietnam and the Dutch Business Association Vietnam. Guest speaker Ahmed Aboutaleb, Mayor of Rotterdam, talked about the future of the city of Rotterdam at the event, which took place at the Dutch Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City.

RSM applicants, RSM alumni and corporate partners from the Dutch expat community in Vietnam were brought together to network, explore their career opportunities, and learn about living and studying in Rotterdam. The event welcomed about 150 attendees and was kicked off by Rotterdam’s Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb, who shared his perspective about the future of the city and said RSM is a top educational institution.

The event was also attended by the Dutch Ambassador to Vietnam, Nienke Trooster, and the Dutch Consul General to Vietnam, Simon van der Burg. He said the embassy and consulate regularly organise seminars and networking events to connect RSM alumni and the Dutch business community. “Some alumni are employed by Dutch companies, others are business partners,” said Van der Burg. “There is a natural link. With their knowledge and experience, RSM alumni are ambassadors for the Netherlands.”

Attendees expanded their networks, and discovered developments at RSM and the city of Rotterdam. “We were privileged to have so many high-profile guests assembled to stress the importance of education in general, and education at RSM in particular,” said Maryke Luijendijk-Steenkamp, Director of MBA Marketing and Admissions at RSM and co-organiser of the event. The networking reception concluded with networking drinks where attendees could explore their mutual links with RSM and Rotterdam.
