General counsel can prepare for new challenges during the first edition of General Counsel Executive Programme at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM), which starts on 20 January 2016. This high-quality and intensive programme is unique in Europe and was created by RSM and General Counsel Netherlands.

“There are many developments in the legal and compliance environment, both from a regulatory perspective, but also from a business perspective,” says Marja Gorter, senior corporate vice-president legal and compliance at LeasePlan Corporation. Gorter adds that more information needs to be recorded for future reporting purposes and data room requests, and more information and advice needs to be rendered in a shorter period of time. “Regulators and business colleagues require efficient and quick action from the lawyers in my team,” said the law professional.

The modular, English-taught General Counsel Executive Programme is the only high-level business programme designed specifically for the new challenges that general counsel encounter. General counsel will develop deeper knowledge into the business principles and processes applied in their department and company, and broaden their outlook on future legal challenges.

Developments in technology

During and after the programme, general counsel can bring their new perspectives and skills into practice immediately by developing a customised strategic decision plan.

Gorter decided to register for the General Counsel Executive Programme for the opportunity discuss challenges with her peers and learn from them, in addition to gaining knowledge through the trainers’ best practices and latest developments. “Also, the visit to Silicon Valley as part of the programme will allow me to stay updated on the latest developments in technology that will help my team to perform up to standard and efficiently,” she says.

General Counsel Executive Programme

In addition to the full executive programme, general counsel can participate in the separate modules if these topics are more suitable to their responsibilities.

General counsel can learn more about the programme or find more information about the separate modules via www.rsm.nl/gcep.

The first module of the General Counsel Executive Programme, which gives general counsel the tools needed for chief-executive level strategic analysis and decision making, starts on 20 January, 2016.
