NVAO accreditation for MSc Customs & Supply Chain Compliance

The only post-experience MSc degree programme that adheres to the EU Customs Competence Framework has been accredited by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO). The Executive Master in Customs and Supply Chain Compliance (MScCSCC) at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) is now an accredited Master of Science programme. The next cohort will start in September 2017.

This modular and part-time RSM programme enables customs and business professionals to learn how to deal with new regulations following the recently changed EU customs regulations law: the Union Customs Code (UCC), which came into force in 2016.

The programme is taught in English and aims to benefit professionals working in cross-border supply chains, government agencies, and people working in policy-making, legal advisory, and auditing roles at customs authorities of EU member states. Participants also include consultants, accountants, traders, exporters and terminal operators in services and logistics businesses. The first class of the master programme started their studies in March 2015, and will graduate in September 2017.

Prerequisite for improving global trade

The MScCSCC programme was designed around the need for improved competencies for professionals working in the customs and logistics sectors; this is recognised by the Netherlands as a prerequisite for maintaining and improving its competitive position in global trade, and the same is true for many other EU nations. The Netherlands’ state-funded Top Sector Logistiek organisation supports RSM’s MSc programme, and has made available a total of 24 scholarships of €8,000 or €3,000. The Netherlands’ Top Sectors are the nine sectors in which the Netherlands is a global leader, and for which the government has given support in the form of encouragement of investment, tax incentives, guarantees and the removal of obstacles.

High-quality professionals

“We very much welcome the decision of the NVAO to accredit our Executive Master in Customs and Supply Chain Compliance programme, said Professor Rob Zuidwijk, Academic Director of the programme. “Developments in the field of customs and trade compliance require professionals to be well-educated and skilled across a range of proficiencies, including customs, supply chain management, IT, and auditing. We are delighted that NVAO has recognised the high quality of our programme in delivering these competencies.”

RSM will congratulate the first graduates from this programme in September 2017 when they gain their degrees from Erasmus University Rotterdam.

The second cohort of the MScCSCC programme will join RSM in September 2017 in Rotterdam for the first of 11 modules, scheduled for September and November 2017, January, April, June, September and November 2018, and February, April, June and September 2019. Applications for entry in 2017 are still being accepted, and applications for the next intake will also be considered. For more information about the application procedure, visit the website.
