Former CEO, Royal FrieslandCampina N.V.
We were very sad to hear that Roelof passed away recently. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
Roelof Joosten (1958-2020) was the Chief Executive Officer of Royal FrieslandCampina N.V. from June 2015 to January 2018 and served as Chief Operating Officer for the business group Ingredients. He was a member of the Executive Board of Royal FrieslandCampina N.V. since January 1, 2012. Roelof served as Managing Director of FrieslandCampina Domo B.V. and was Executive Director of FrieslandCampina Ingredients at Royal FrieslandCampina N.V. In these roles he was responsible for the growth and development of infant nutrition as a highly important segment for FrieslandCampina.
FrieslandCampina has an annual revenue of 11 billion euros and employs around 22.000 people worldwide. The company produces and sells consumer products such as dairy-based beverages, infant nutrition, cheese and desserts in Europe, in Asia and in Africa. In addition, products are supplied to professional customers, including cream and butter products to bakeries and catering companies in West Europe. FrieslandCampina also produces ingredients and half-finished products for manufacturers of infant nutrition, the food industry and the pharmaceutical sector around the world.
FrieslandCampina’s holds offices in 33 countries and its products find their way to more than 100 countries. Before taking up a position at the former Friesland Foods, Roelof worked at Quest International as Regional Vice-President, from 1998 till 2003. He gained a broad experience during his years at Unilever, where he held general management roles at the Unilever Specialties Group.
Roelof Joosten was the Chairman of the Dutch Dairy Association (NZO), the trade association for the Dutch Dairy Industry.
Roelof Joosten had a Master degree (Ir.) in Chemical Engineering at the University of Groningen (NL). He completed many strategical trainings and programmes including the Harvard Advanced Management Course.
Roelof is survived by his wife and three children.
