Boosting the real estate market & economy in Southeast Asia
Mart's interest in internet-based business models started in 2004, when he was 14. After his studies, Mart immediately began disrupting the fast-growing real estate market in Southeast Asia by joining online property portal Lamudi. Within eight months, Mart got promoted to become CEO of Lamudi Indonesia at the age of 25.
Lamudi’s vision is to bring innovation, accessibility, and transparency to real estate markets in emerging countries to improve people’s lives. Almost none of Lamudi’s clients knew how internet could help their business. Now, almost all players in property know they need to be online to reach consumers.
Mart is responsible for the development of Lamudi Indonesia. He has helped the start-up grow from 25 to 250 employees in three years, and increased the revenue significantly by inventing new business models and training employees.
“We have built an infrastructure around learning and development that empowers young people to do great things,” Mart says. He and his team are working in an industry that is one of the largest contributors to the Indonesian economy. They provide the industry with fresh perspectives with real game-changer mentality to positively influence business and society.
Nominator Robbert Brouwer (BIM 2018): “After RSM, Mart turned down an ‘offer you can’t refuse’ from a multinational where he did his internship. He does not go for the beaten track. He really wanted to make an impact by doing something different, something special.”
