Improving alumni reunion activities through creativity and advice

Connecting with people and being curious is what drives Christine Balch – in her work at TNO and as an RSM alumna. At TNO, she is the Director of European Affairs, for which she engages in the strategic discussion about exciting research and innovation in the European Union.

Christine was one of the most involved ambassadors in the RSM MBA Alumni Reunion 2019. “RSM showed me how to be more open to other ways of thinking, and be more creative,” she says. The alumna says her MBA classmates experience warm friendships 25 years after their studies. “We went through such an intense personal, intellectual and professional development process together. We always reconnect immediately.”

Taking her experiences from the last reunion she attended, she and alumnus Eric Dansereau shared ideas, suggestions and improvement points with RSM to further improve the reunion event to make it more engaging and fun for alumni to come back to campus.

“Alumni can take two approaches: wish that things happen or make it happen. Christine uses the last approach. I love it when alumni help make positive things happen,” says nominator Carolina Ospina, event project manager at RSM. Christine said many opportunities come our way, but you can also create them for yourself. “Just be brave and go for it.”
