Study | Year of graduation: Full-time MBA, 2005
Job title: Managing director
What are the most valuable skills that you took from your education at RSM?
“An RSM MBA provides a broad-based skill set that is highly relevant for a career in business, particularly if you are entrepreneurial and looking to start a business as I did. When starting and managing a business you need to be quite a generalist, in that you can turn your hand to anything be it sales, marketing, finance, operations or HR – these are all skills and competencies taught in the MBA classroom which stand you in good stead for application in the real world.”
What was your most memorable moment at RSM?
“The first few weeks were particularly memorable. You read and hear about how international the RSM MBA programme is but it’s not until you actually arrive and meet people from the four corners of the globe that you appreciate the internationalism. It brings many advantages such as creating a truly international network. I can be in Japan or Brazil and have four or five people I can call on to meet up.”
How would your former classmates describe you?
“I was the only British student in the MBA Class of 2005, so most will probably remember me as the ‘English person’.”
Name three things that make you smile each day!
“Friends and family, growing the business, and my daughter.”
What is your greatest passion in life?
“Learning. I thought I was done with studying after the MBA, but here I am 10 years later putting the final touches to a PhD. I expect to continue learning after this.”
What is your 'I WILL'?
“I WILL never stop learning”
