A new partnership will provide Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) with internships, lectures, a research partner and access to an audience of businesses with which to share new knowledge resulting from its research into the management of innovation. The new partnership agreement, with the innovation section of Deloitte, a global business services company, was signed on 9 March.

Deloitte Innovation is the ‘incubator’ sector of the company, responsible for the structural development of new services, and was launched in 2008. Its new partnership with RSM was signed by Jan van den Ende, Professor of Management of Technology and Innovation at RSM, and Alexandre Janssen, Deloitte Innovation’s Team Lead.

Deloitte Innovation helps Deloitte’s staff to develop promising ideas into marketable propositions, giving them time, start-up capital and coaching. The dedicated innovation incubator enables Deloitte to continuously offer new services to its clients. Deloitte Innovation will host at least two graduate internships for students from the RSM MSc Management of Innovation programme. Students will be selected by Deloitte based on a range of assessments, including their strategic fit according to their research topics.

Deloitte Innovation will also give guest lectures, and take part in RSM’s induction week activities for RSM’s new MSc Management of Innovation students each September

RSM and Deloitte Innovation will explore opportunities for writing and publishing articles together, by performing joint research activities or by RSM students using Deloitte’s empirical data. It is hoped that these activities will result in academic papers for scientific journals and articles for management audiences.

The partnership is set to run for an initial year; the intention is to extend the partnership after that time.
