Shanghai commerce and statistics officials visit RSM
Delegations from the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce and Shanghai Municipal Statistics Bureau visited Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) in September 2017. They discussed Chinese statistics and future co-operation with RSM with Dean Steef van de Velde, Associate Dean of China Business Dr Ying Zhang, Prof Bert Balk, and Hans Horstink MSc MCM.
The meeting was hosted by Dr Ying Zhang. At the start of the meeting, RSM Dean Prof. Steef van de Velde welcomed the Shanghai delegation and gave a brief introduction of RSM. Hans Horstink, director of RSM Executive Education’s customised programmes then explained how RSM’s customised programmes, including their features, structures, and services can benefit businesses and teams.
Mutual learning experience
The meeting provided an important mutual learning experience, and was also valuable for both countries in exchanging ideas at the macro-statistics fields. RSM, as a leading business school in Europe, is proud to play this role and serve as a bridge for more future communication and collaboration among universities, corporations, and governments from China and the Netherlands.
Local issues in China and statistics
There was a lively discussion on related questions and topics about Chinese statistics. Mr. Wu Xingbao, the vice-chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, raised several practical and critical questions regarding the local issues they encountered in China and the Chinese statistics field. Prof. Bert Balk answered the questions from both the theoretical and experiential side, and held a presentation about welfare and productivity, providing great insights to the audience.
At the end of the meeting, the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, the Shanghai Municipal Statistics Bureau and RSM discussed the possibilities and format of future collaboration with Dean Steef van de Velde and Dr Ying Zhang.
