Thesis Submission Process

Thesis Submission Process

During the MSc at RSM, students are required to conduct independent, individual research in the academic field of their chosen master programme. Students should be able to report the entire research process leading to the master thesis, from problem formulation to describing findings, conclusions and recommendations. The aim of the master thesis is to provide master students with insights, experiences and tips for improving their skills in practical scientific, business and management research. The master thesis and research methods course together count for up to 20 EC and form an integral and important part of all MSc programmes.

Thesis Manual

In the master thesis manual you can find a description of numerous thesis related issues such as:

  • Structure
  • Content
  • Research ethics/code of conduct
  • Roles and responsibility of coach, co-reader and student
  • Thesis (proposal) submission on Thesis Online Platform
  • Assessment matrix
  • Defence

Master thesis coordinators can inform students of additional programme specific rules and procedures.

Handout Referencing

More information on referencing and citing can found in the Library Guides. Students are urged to read the available information carefully before submitting the final thesis online.

Thesis Online Platform

RSM makes use of an online platform to support the thesis process, called Thesis Online Platform (TOP). Students will submit their final proposal and final thesis in the system. Coaches and co-readers will approve or disapprove the documents in TOP. At the end, after the defense, the final assessment and grading is recorded in TOP. The Frequently Asked Questions document includes answers to the questions about the thesis submission process via Thesis Online Platform.
