Applicants who are in their final year of high school will be evaluated on:

  • the grades from the penultimate year
  • AND the grades obtained during the first half of the final year (first term/semester).

You will most likely receive the grades of your fall semester around December or even mid-January. We advise you to submit your application as early as possible to avoid last minute issues. You will be able to add documents, such as new grade transcripts, until the 31 January application deadline.

Many applicants share the same concerns and questions. We have created a short FAQ section to address these issues:

If your school cannot provide an official first term report before the end of January, we recommend to provide any (progress/midterm) grades that are available before the application closes (31 January). Your school can include an explanation in the RSM diploma statement form. Please note that RSM cannot accept grades submitted after the 31st of January. We will therefore make our admissions decision based on the information that was submitted by the 31st of January.

Yes. To avoid a last-minute “panic submit” we highly recommend that you complete and submit your application as soon as you can. The document section of OLAF will remain open until the 31st of January, allowing you to add your first term grades at the last minute. The admissions decision will be made using the documentation that was submitted on the 31 January application deadline. Transcripts submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Also, transcripts sent by e-mail are not accepted.

No, we don't accept documents sent by e-mail. All documents and grade lists (transcripts) must be uploaded in the Online Application Form (OLAF). Documents received after the 31 January deadline will not be considered.

Yes, but you can only add new grades until the 31st of January. Grades sent after this date will not be considered.

If no first term grades or any midterm/progress grades are available, we will use the grades of the penultimate year to evaluate your application. Please note however that we must have at least one full year of grades to assess your application. If you do not have any grades from your final year, please ask your school to indicate this in the RSM diploma statement.

The grades from the ‘examendossier’ (SE) will be used for admission to IBA. The SE grade is derived from the ‘PO’s’ and ‘ (‘kennistoetsen’) that make up the SE list, per subject, in one decimal. These are all relevant grades from VWO-4, 5 and 6, up to and including 12 January 2023. This has been agreed by the Universities of the Netherlands (UNL) and the Secondary Education Council (VO-raad). For more information, see this article

If your school cannot provide the SE grades before the end of January, your school must include an explanation in the RSM diploma statement form.

The only documents that we will accept after the 31 January deadline are the results of English and Mathematics exams. We will not accept new school grades for these subjects, only the results of standardized tests. Once your application has been pre-screened for completion, we will re-open the math and English sections to allow you to add the results of these exams. The deadline to submit both types of exams is 15 March. Results sent per e-mail or added to OLAF after this date will not be considered.

If you do not meet the mathematics requirement for your diploma that is indicated on the RSM website, you can still prove your proficiency in mathematics by taking the IBA mathematics exam. The exam can be used to compensate for a lower mathematics grade as well as an insufficient level. The results of the IBA mathematics exam can be submitted until the 15 March. We will not accept new school grades after the 31st of January.

If you do not meet the English requirement for your diploma that is indicated on the RSM website, you can prove your proficiency by taking one of the standardized English tests listed on the RSM website. These exams can be used to compensate for an English grade that is too low as well as an insufficient level. The results of all English exams can be submitted until 15 March. Please note that it can take a while to get an appointment to take an English exam and that it can also take several weeks to receive your results. We therefore strongly advise you to plan to take an English exam well in advance of the 15 March deadline. RSM is not responsible for late exam results or full test centers. We will not accept new school grades after the 31st of January.
