Nine students make up the STAR Board; they take a full-time role for a year to fulfil their responsibilities for the day-to-day running of the association. The new board noted: “Particularly after the past year and a half with all the Covid-19 regulations, we consider our social pillar as highly important. We are aiming to organise as many physical events as is safely possible, so that everyone is able to get the full experience out of it.”
STAR is the biggest study association of Europe and has more than 6,500 members. It brings together RSM students from all full-time bachelor and master programmes through its many activities, which benefit students on academic, career and social levels.
Enriching your RSM life
The STAR board are excited to get started: “We are here to enrich the student life of all RSM students. We want to add value on an academic, career and social level. We can’t wait to meet you all in person and are super excited about the upcoming year!” said the new members of the 44th STAR management board for the 2021-2022 academic year. They are:

STAR’s new chair, Renske Vermeer has experienced the study association’s advantages first-hand during her bachelor studies at RSM. “When I started my student life in Rotterdam during my first year as a BA student, I soon realised that it’s not only about studying, but also about developing myself both professionally and personally. That was the first time I came into contact with STAR. STAR not only helped me developing my networking and organising skills, but also contributed greatly to my social life by giving me many ways to get in contact with my fellow students.”
STAR membership and committees
The new management board had its first meetings in late July; their offices are in Mandeville Building in room T4-53.
STAR organises various career events throughout the year, for example the STAR Management Week and the Erasmus Recruitment Days, which offer a bridge between RSM students and businesses. Through the Erasmus Recruitment Platform, co-managed by STAR, students can search for part-time jobs, internships or career opportunities. STAR links many of its events to various charities, co-ordinated by STAR’s iCare and ReachOut committees.
STAR’s Academic Committee offers members personal and professional development through various courses. There are study-specific Master Study Clubs and more than 50 committees that students are invited to become active in. RSM bachelor and master students can become STAR members or join one of the STAR committees via the association’s website. STAR’s social events include international study trips, parties and barbecues.
