A new collection of research that can help individuals, businesses and organisations to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus crisis has been launched by Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). The Crisis-related Research Series is a growing collection of research-based thought pieces and opinions from RSM’s academics and researchers. Topics range from tips for battling loneliness to the ethical dilemmas faced by managers and leaders.

The Series includes articles about:

  • the best way to handle business-related problems and issues
  • addressing personal challenges in effective leadership or motivation
  • explaining the effects of the crisis on businesses and organisations.

Articles, webinars and TEDx talks

RSM academics and researchers have shared their knowledge to help individuals, companies, organisations, regions and states. The information is in the form of articles that present a digest of scientific research into issues of business and management, webinars, TEDx talks, and opinion pieces that have appeared in newspapers.

The Crisis-related Research Series includes resources by Prof. Muel Kaptein, RSM Executive Education, Prof. Michaéla Schippers, Prof. Mathijs van Dijk, Prof. Dirk Schoenmaker, Prof. Steffen GiessnerProf. Daan Stam and PhD candidate Hodar Lam.

Expert thinking

Dean of RSM, Prof. Ansgar Richter said: “The Crisis-related Research Series pulls together research, knowledge and expert thinking that is most useful to leaders, managers, businesses and organisations right now. It’s one of several initiatives from RSM that we hope will help them deal with this crisis.

“Our department of Executive Education has launched a series of free webinars about leading in times of global crisis, and we have opened up the invitations to our SDG Insight events to everyone by re-inventing them as free-to-access online sessions. These are proving very popular.”

Some of the material in the Crisis-related Research Series is new and written specifically about the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, but there is also material taken from existing articles chosen because of its current relevance. RSM hopes that the Series will encourage new users to take a fresh look at its research portal, the RSM Discovery website.

Prof. Richter commented: “RSM’s mission, to be a force for positive change in the world is in action during the current crisis just as much as it is in more stable times, if not more so. We have knowledge to share that can help.”
