Business benefits from masterclass presented by university partners

An afternoon ‘masterclass’ in Delft in December will show how university research can benefit business. The event on Monday 11 December in Delft is the first result of a partnership of two Dutch universities offering their expertise to businesses affected by rapid technological change, and will offer suggestions for actions and strategies based on university research for businesses to turn such challenges into opportunities. The networking lunch and afternoon programme will inspire and educate firms about digital innovation, and is presented by Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) and TU Delft.

RSM and TU Delft have partnered up to address the organisational challenges that come with rapid technological advances. Recent research revealed that rapid technological change is the biggest threat to global business. RSM and TU Delft academics believe that sharing, merging and combining their expertise can help organisations turn this threat into an opportunity. For example, rapid technological change in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning is helping companies to become better at making complex decisions.

Dr Murat Tarakci is assistant professor of innovation management at RSM. He said: “The goal for us as universities is to suggest better strategies to companies affected by rapid technological change. This short afternoon programme offers a great opportunity for the business community to see what RSM and TU Delft offer and how our activities and their business can be complementary.”

The programme includes a networking lunch, followed by four presentations from TU Delft’s Prof. Jeroen van den Hoven and Dr Roland Orrt, and RSM’s Prof. Henk Volberda and Dr Murat Tarakci. The academics will cover the ethics of technology and responsible innovation, strategic renewal, commercialisation of high tech products, and the behavioural drivers of innovation.

Registration for Rapid Technological Change: Turning a Threat into an Opportunity is essential.
