In her inaugural speech at the AGM, Brand-Boswijk said it was the calling of coaches to serve humanity. “And it is the connectivity to ourselves, others and the world at large that is important, more than ever today! ICF gives us the foundation to help us help others and to empower you to make the difference. Reach out to your network and be there for each other.”
Brand-Boswijk also recently delivered the keynote at an International Criminal Court (ICC) Mentoring Programme for Women networking event in The Hague.
Addressing the topic of women empowerment and ownership, Brand-Boswijk – who is also Director of coaching at Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) – gave insight into what she calls “Human-Being vs Human-Doing”.
“The process of finding your own passion and purpose requires, in the first instance, honesty and authenticity, followed closely by courage and reflection,” Brand-Boswijk said.
“Instead of seeing and hearing others, what are you doing to see and hear yourself? This may be uncomfortable but once you have found resonance in who you are ‘being’, then what you are ‘doing’ will fall into place.”
The ICC’s Mentoring Programme for Women Networking event in February tackled the main challenges and barriers that women face in their professional development and what strategies can be used to tackle these. It also shone a spotlight on the importance of having a mentor or coach.
“It is great to see such dedication to empowering women at the ICC,” concludes Brand-Boswijk.
