Why did you choose this MSc?
“Given the ever-growing pervasiveness of IT, I wanted to pursue a master which focuses on being the linchpin between business and IT.”
How would you describe the programme and RSM?
“The programme heavily focuses on IT strategy yet is flexible enough through the electives to also permit obtaining 'hard-coding' skills. RSM is a well-renowned university with a highly international flair.”
What was the biggest challenge in this master?
“The greatest challenge was to find a suitable master thesis. Given the wealth of potential topics, it took a while to narrow down my topics of interests and then to have a formal discussion with the professor in question as to whether or not the envisioned research question would be feasible.”
What made the greatest impression?
“I really enjoyed that the professors managed to attract high-level guest speakers, which gave a more practical insight into what it’s really like working at the intersection of IT and business. I also enjoyed the big data analytic course which really permitted the students to learn hard coding skills.”
How did your studies at RSM shape your career?
“RSM's reputation allowed my resume to stand out enough to be invited to an interview. Also, the master programme focuses a lot more on team projects which provide a great learning experience in working in a team. Of course, the actual content of the master degree also helped.”
What are your future plans?
“I’ll be working at Deloitte starting from September for a minimum of two years and will see from there whether I would like to continue at Deloitte or pursue a career in a different organisation. My long-term goal is to move back to Asia, preferably Singapore, Japan, China or Hong-Kong.”
