Since 1999, Femke Groothuis has worked with Eckart Wintzen and Ex'tent, pioneering in green and social investment. This inspired her to start the Ex’tax 'wave' in 2009. Being a political scientist in the field of international relations and environment helps her keep the big picture.
Ex'tax is the proposal to bring tax on resources up and tax on labour down. This creates financial incentives to save natural resources and to bring materials in a closed loop, empowering the circular economy. Lower taxes on labour will make it possible to tap into the abundance of human resources instead. The Ex'tax Project was founded to create a powerful coalition in favour of getting the best out of people rather than nature.
