Selection Procedure & Deadlines

Selection Procedure & Deadlines

The selection for IM/CEMS is very competitive so it's important that applicants are well prepared for the selection process. The selection consists of the following phases:

  • For information about the CEMS programme and the partner schools, visit the CEMS website and check the official CEMS videos. You can also talk to current students of the programme.

  • The selection procedure consists of two phases.

Phase 1 - Ranking based on minimum requirements

After the 31 January deadline all complete applications will be assessed for minimum requirements. All applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be ranked based on their language abilities as well as GPA and/or GMAT (for the benefit of the applicant). At this stage motivation and CV are not included in the evaluation. The 100 best applicants will be invited for a selection interview and assessment at the Erasmus University campus.

Phase 2 -  Interview & Assessment on RSM campus

Assessment: Applicants will participate in an 20-minute assessment consisting of a presentation to corporate partners of the IM/CEMS programme.

Interviews: Applicants will be invited for a personal interview with the IM/CEMS Selection Committee. The 20-minute interview will be conducted using the "STAR" interview method and will focus on your motivation to participate in the programme as well as two key CEMS competencies: initiative taking and result orientation. Your motivation and CV which you have submitted in your application will be used by the interviewers as preparation material for the interviews.

The selection interviews and assessments will take place on campus on the 4th of March, 2019.

Applicants are expected to come to Rotterdam for this phase and will be notified via e-mail of the exact time and location on the campus. Travel and accommodation costs are not refunded. Applicants residing outside of Europe at this time should contact the RSM Admissions Office if they are selected for the interview and assessment round and they are unable to join the interviews in person.

  • When the interviews and assessments have taken place, the Admissions Office will make a ranking of the applicants. This ranking is based on the scores from the first selection round (GPA/GMAT and language proficiency) and the total score obtained from the interview and the assessment.

Students will be notified of the outcome of the selection procedure, including the allotted exchange destination as soon as possible. On the basis of the formal requirements and the results of the assessment and selection interviews, applicants with the best scores will receive their first choice(s) of exchange destination. Approximately 70 students will be selected for the programme and receive a (conditional) offer of admission.

Applicants who participated in the second selection round but did not make the final selection will be offered admission to one of our other MSc programmes. Students currently completing their bachelor programme at RSM can follow the internal admissions process for the MSc programmes.

Be aware: Formal admission to the MSc IM/CEMS will only take place after the applicant has received an unconditional offer of admission. All of the conditions listed in the letter of admission must be fulfilled before the applicant is allowed to begin the IM/CEMS master. If the applicant has failed to meet any of the conditions listed by 31 August, the offer of admission will be withdrawn.
