Why did you choose this MSc?
“After working for two years as a chief marketing officer in a company that I founded, I wanted to challenge and complement my practical experience with scientific insights. RSM's MSc in Marketing Management offered me a challenging and international study programme to do just that.”
How would you describe the programme and RSM?
“RSM has an impressive reputation as a business school and therefore attracts a lot of fascinating students from all over the world. This offers you the opportunity to look at topics from multinational angles and therefore gain a more holistic understanding of them. The programme itself is very well structured and allows students from different disciplines to gain an advanced understanding of marketing. Based on this, students can take a scientific deep-dive with the electives and their master thesis.”
What was the biggest challenge in this master?
“Ambitious people, and a demanding thesis and lectures with one year. The wish and need to combine all three was the biggest and most exciting challenge during my master. Group projects often included intense discussions, lectures needed good preparation and the master thesis development started one month into the studies. This combination really helped my fellow students and me to learn and become well prepared for the upcoming job or research occupations.”
What made the greatest impression?
“What really impressed me was the close and direct connection to RSM’s professors and lecturers. If topics remained unclear or if someone felt that a further discussion was needed, doors were always open for everyone. This was especially true for the development of my master thesis. The direct one-to-one coaching really challenged me and helped me to write an advanced academic paper that laid the basis for further studies.”
How did your studies at RSM shape your career?
“The studies at RSM equipped me with the needed tools to advance different types of problems and solve them in a structured way. My specific study programme also provided me the consumer-centric insights I need in my current work surrounding to help our clients master the challenges of a more and more digital environment.”
What are your future plans?
“I definitely want to found a company again. Working in an entrepreneurial surrounding on my own idea is what motivates me most. I’m always on the lookout for new business ideas and unsolved problems, possibly together with a team that will include some of my former RSM classmates.”
