Why did you choose this MSc?
“During an internship in Beijing, I was captivated by the phenomenon of organisational change and transition. I decided to pursue a programme which would help me acquire more in-depth knowledge on the theory and knowledge that lies behind organisational change. RSM offered exactly this, so it was an easy decision given the reputation of their programmes.”
How would you describe the programme and RSM?
“The OCC master provides knowledge about how to research and analyse business processes and the management skills to implement change. It connects the theoretical academic world to the business world by incorporating challenging projects conducted in real business environments. Students actively and collaboratively observe these processes and interactions from multiple realities and perspectives, and are urged to look beyond the surface. In a constructive manner, we evaluated the projects and outcomes in a classroom setting to learn from each other. This contributed to being a very close master group, with a ‘work hard, play hard’ mentality.”
What was the biggest challenge in this master?
“Organisational change trajectories can, naturally, affect and involve a great amount of stakeholders inside and outside of an organisation. You have to understand the motives, perceptions, personalities and backgrounds in order to facilitate and manage change as well as can be. Almost all of the OCC courses include projects in a real-life setting; it was really challenging to effectively co-operate with both fellow students and other persons involved.”
What made the greatest impression?
“My fellow classmates. The programme attracts motivated students who are critical and outspoken. The courses are given in a classroom setting, which allows for lively and sometimes heated discussions on the topic at hand. Also, the courses include a lot of workshops given by and for classmates, translating theory and change methods to a physical setting. The enthusiasm and team efforts of these proceedings really showed the winning mentality of the students altogether.”
How did your studies at RSM shape your career?
“RSM’s OCC master has provided me with a well-balanced skillset and mindset. No challenge is too big. A few months in at Total, I’m involved in projects regarding process development. The study programme definitely demonstrates an advantage.”
What are your future plans?
“I plan to grow further in international sales. Also, there are still many cultures I want to explore, so there are many travel adventures yet to come – for work and leisure.”
