A decade of leadership: 10th Summit explores purpose and power

Why is purpose so important to being a resilient leader? Why do purpose-led organisations perform at a far higher level than other businesses? A one-day conference addressing these questions has been organised by Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). The 10th annual RSM Leadership Summit will take place at the Van Nelle Fabriek on Friday 12 October 2018. Keynote speakers including Marlies Dekkers, Michiel Muller, Vincent van den Boogert and Shaun Tomson will share the reasons why purpose is crucial to people, to leaders, and to business. Daan Stam, Professor of Leadership for Innovation at RSM, will give the academic keynote presentation.

What is the power of purpose?

Purpose is the energy that empowers organisations to thrive as they tackle the many challenges facing them. More importantly, purpose positively impacts businesses: recent research from EY indicates that purpose-led organisations perform 42 per cent better than those that are simply ‘in business’. Often that strong sense of purpose comes from a company’s leaders. Leaders with purpose have the power to create enlightened, agile, and resilient organisations – businesses with the power to make positive change in the world.

At this year’s RSM Leadership Summit, the entire RSM community – professionals, alumni, students, staff and VIP guests – will have the opportunity to listen to some of the most inspiring, iconoclastic and dynamic entrepreneurs, academics, and experts on leadership during the day’s programme. Breakout sessions, plenary discussions, and the annual Distinguished Alumni Awards are other highlights of the Summit for 2018. Registration is open.
