The combination of Lean Six Sigma and high-level leadership training means consultants and managers learn how to apply Lean Six Sigma at the highest level. In the 14-day modular programme, participants will boost their analytical and organisational skills to be able to mobilise staff and departments while focusing on quality management. They will then be Lean Six Sigma Black Belt experts, which means they will be able to optimise processes on a project basis (lean, six sigma) and how to introduce change (leadership, change management).
Black Belt excellence certification
The first run of the university-level Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Excellence programme will start on Monday 12 February 2018. It will take place at the Van Nelle Fabriek in Rotterdam (11 days) and on RSM’s campus (3 days). Upon completing of the programme, participants will obtain the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
The programme will be led by Dr Ferdinand Jaspers, programme director at Erasmus Centre for
Entrepreneurship; Dr Martijn Rademakers, managing director of Center for Strategy & Leadership,
adjunct professor of corporate strategy at Amsterdam Business School, University of Amsterdam, and visiting faculty at RSM; and Rijk Schildmeijer, partner and Master Black Belt at The Lean Six Sigma Company.
An improvement structure
“The essence of continuous improvement is about exploiting the opportunities to learn from mistakes,” says lecturer Rijk Schildmeijer. “The essence of Lean Six Sigma is having an improvement structure to avoid making the same mistake twice. Combine both, and you have something the Japanese call ‘kaizen’. This one the fundamentals of this course.”
Lecturer Dr Martijn Rademakers adds: “Participants will not only learn about the telling details of Six Sigma, but also get an eye for the big picture. Black Belts need both views to bring their projects to success.”
The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Excellence programme will be facilitated by The Lean Six Sigma Company and RSM, one of Europe’s top 10 business schools.
There will be a walk-in information session about the programme in the Van Nelle Fabriek in Rotterdam on Tuesday 9 January at 19:00.
