Max Havelaar Lecture 2015

Max Havelaar Lecture 2015

The dawn of a new era?

2015 will serve as an important year for international development. In this year the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals will come to an end which means that they will be evaluated. Are the goals reached and to what extent? How effective where the MDGs in leading to the successful solutions to development problems? And what will happen next? The post-2015 development agenda revealed a need to create new Sustainable Development Goals. This has resulted in 17 concrete SDGs and 169 sub-goals.

But will this commitment be sufficient? How can we be successful in attaining the sustainable development goals by 2030? The Max Havelaar Lezing invites speakers to speak about their ambitions for a sustainable future. What role do they think they should take? What can they contribute and how? The lecture will contain various perspectives on this and includes a marketplace in which one can visit the diverse initiatives and get inspired by their ambition to work on a more sustainable world.
